Founded in 1774, Harrodsburg was the first permanent English settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains. Located in the heart of Kentucky’s Bluegrass Region near Lexington, the commonwealth’s oldest town offers an appealing mix of history, architecture, culture and more.
Mercer County is nestled among breathtaking palisades and gently rolling countrysides laden with historic stone fences and some of the nation’s most beautiful horse farms. Our open doors lead to a place rich in heritage, beautiful scenery, warm hospitality and simple pleasures.
We invite you to experience the relaxing atmosphere of our historic community. Go on adventures like touring Shaker Village (America’s largest restored Shaker community), exploring frontier life at Old Fort Harrod State Park, savoring traditional fare at Beaumont Inn, visiting agritourism properties, strolling downtown’s historic district and shopping for quality antiques and handmade crafts.
We are conveniently located within an hour’s drive of central Kentucky’s most famous attractions; Harrodsburg is the perfect base location for day trips to such sites as the Kentucky Horse Park (Lexington); Woodford Reserve Distillery (Versailles); Kentucky State Capitol (Frankfort); Toyota Manufacturing Plant (Georgetown); Perryville Battlefield Civil War State Historic Site (Danville); The Folk Arts & Crafts Capital of Kentucky & Kentucky Artisan Center (Berea); Hummell Planetarium and Space Theater (Richmond); Renfro Valley Entertainment Center (Mount Vernon); My Old Kentucky Home State Park (Bardstown); and Churchill Downs (Louisville). The possibilities are endless.
